Creating A Hyperlink
To create a hyperlink in your text, do the following:
1. Presuming you are already on the page you are editing, select the text you want to add the hyperlink to by clicking the left mouse button and dragging your cursor over the text.
2. Click the Link button.
3. Insert the link URL in the popup box.. Tip: You can copy this from your browser if you are looking at the page you want to link to in another window.
4. If you want the link to open in the same window as the page you are linking from, then click the yellow OK button. If not, then see the other options below.
Other Options:
Add E-Mail Address
Select E-mail from the Link Type Dropdown. Enter your information in the fields. Click the OK button.
Choosing Where the Linked Page Opens
By selecting the Target tab and selecting the Target dropdown, you can change how the linked page opens when someone clicks on your hyperlink.
Here are the main target setting that you will use:
New Window: This opens the link in a new browser window. Use this if the link takes people to another website.
The other settings are for advanced users and are in fact rarely used. If you know html, then you will already know how these work.
Linking to a Downloadable File
If you want to link to a file that people can download, like a pdf or Word document, follow these steps.
1. Click the "Browse Server" button.
2. The window that appears is the File Browser for all the files you have access to on your site. To upload a file, click "Upload."
3. The Upload New File box will now open.
a. Click the Browse button and find the file on your computer that you want to upload to your website.
b. Click the Upload Selected File button.
c. The file will appear in the area that has your other files. Just double-click the file you just uploaded and it will insert
the file as a link in the link box.
