Phone: 541-743-8500Send Rod a message.My name is Rod Bender and I'm a native Oregonian. Born and raised in Eugene, I in fact live only 1/4 mile from Real Pro Systems. My parents moved to Oregon in the mid 1960's as my father wanted to work in the then-burgeoning timber industry.

I've always had a love for electronics and computers. I got my hands on my first computer in 1983 in my 4th grade classroom. It was a Commodore Pet Computer. I was absolutely transfixed with it's Chiclet-styled keyboard and cassette tape drive. Programs took 30 minutes to load. Now that was technology!
Over my school years I studied basic computer programming, but more specifically, computer graphics. Color computers were just finding their way into schools at the time, and I couldn't get enough. I worked on the brand new Apple MacIntosh SE computers in my high school computer lab in the late 1980's. Right when I was graduating in 1990, the school got it's very first Windows PC that could edit full-color photographs. To be able to actually edit photographs digitally at the time was an astounding idea to me. This was before Photoshop was part of popular language. But I knew computers would never be the same from that point on, at least from a graphic perspective.To my sheer delight, my dad bought a 486 PC running Windows 3.1 in 1994. That sucker cost $4000! But I could scan and edit photos on it, and that was just the best thing ever as an amateur photographer. I delved into learning photo editing techniques that would eventually lead to my experience building websites.
I started designing websites around 2000. My first official experience working on websites was when I worked for a call center in Portland called AnswerConnect. I helped them take their one-page site and turn it into a several hundred page site that reached top ranking on Google. I then branched out into creating brand graphics for our sister company, Solestruck.com, which sold shoes online. I also became a Certified Google Adwords expert.
After leaving AnswerConnect, I ran my own private web design practice. I then moved back to Eugene in Dec 2010. I've had the pleasure of working with Real Pro Systems since April 2011.
As far as my personal life, I am a classically trained violinist. As such I enjoy listening to music and producing electronic music. I am also a hard-core Trekker, as any self-respecting geek like me should be. That's how I met my wife. She said something about Star Trek to a mutual friend, and we were married 8 months later. It was a match made in the stars (bad joke alert). I also enjoy a good hike and love the outdoors. That's why I still live in Oregon. And that's why I plan to stay here forever.
